Self-management intervention for breathlessness in lung cancer

Canadian Cancer Trials has released a new pilot study investigating the benefit of daily strategies to manage breathlessness in lung cancer patients. Controlling and/or reducing the intensity of breathless periods can assist with a patient's quality of life. Dr. Doris Howell, principal investigator at the Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto, believes that evaluating self-management strategies for lung cancer patients will help them better cope and understand dyspnea, a condition that becomes progressively worse due to the patient's stage of cancer diagnosis.
