InflaMix identifies CAR-T recipients with a preinfusion inflammatory profile indicative of high risk for CAR-T treatment failure

Findings from the use of InflaMix, a predictive, point-of-care-clinical tool, designed "to identify patients at high risk of treatment failure and support informed risk-benefit discussions.." in patients with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, were recently published in Nature Medicine.  InflaMix, which requires only 1 blood test, "offers an unbiased quantitative assessment of 14 blood markers, 11 of which are routinely assayed for patients with lymphoma."

  1. A preinfusion inflammatory profile that predicts CAR-T failure risk could help teams act before the product is even given — whether that means bridging strategy, closer monitoring or reconsidering timing. CAR-T outcomes are not decided only by the cells; the host environment matters. This is exactly the type of translational detail that matters in onc brothers conversations, where the gap between trial eligibility and real-world patients is constant.

  2. One blood test giving an unbiased read on 14 markers, 11 of them already routine, is exactly the kind of practical prognostic tool that actually gets adopted — no exotic sequencing pipeline required. Identifying high-risk patients before infusion could reshape the consent conversation and the bridging strategy alike. If the host environment is the deciding factor, then measuring it, rather than hoping for the best, is the obvious move.
