Province pushed to fund test to aide in breast cancer treatment options

An Alberta cancer specialist is urging the province to immediately fund a medical test that can help decide whether chemotherapy is the best course of treatment for breast cancer patients. Dr. Alexander Paterson, a professor at the University of Calgary’s department of medicine and oncology and a doctor at Calgary’s Tom Baker Cancer Centre, said most oncologists across the province are frustrated with delays in reviewing the test, called Oncotype DX.
