Bones benefit from exercise after breast cancer
A new study conducted at the Oregon Health and Science University indicates that regular exercise helps maintain bone strength and prevent fractures in older breast cancer survivors. Study investigators measured "bone mineral density in the hip and spine, muscle and fat levels, and maximum upper and lower body strength." These findings support the notion that exercise programs for improving musculoskeletal health should be implemented in long-term care plans for breast cancer survivors.
